The 4th of July in Crested Butte - a full immersion into US :)

The National Day in Crested Butte started with a 1/3 marathon

(a yearly fund raising event for Rocky Mountain Biological Lab)

Here the tanned winner :)

lots of spectators

and all kinds of runners

(walking and crawling were a separate category) :)

And then the parade started

Protesting against the plans to open a new mine in the region
(defenders of the Red Lady Mountain)

Very much in the sense of US and its contrasts:
crazy off-roaders..

...followed by the greens promoting carbon offset and recycling
